What is a decentralized exchange?
A DEX uses smart contracts to match trades without ever taking custody of your funds. You connect a wallet (MetaMask, Phantom, Rabby), approve the token, and swap. AMM (Automated Market Maker) DEXes like Uniswap use liquidity pools; orderbook DEXes like dYdX match bids and asks on-chain. You stay in full control of your keys — but you pay gas fees and accept MEV risk.
